Donna Marie Michael Manning, 66, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022. She was born on August 27, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri to Robert and Alice (Burns) Lenington.
Donna was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended Blue Springs High School graduating in 1973. She went on to attend Penn Valley, UMKC, and graduated from Law School at the University of Kansas in 1981.
Donna started her own Law Firm Practice in 1983 in Olathe, Kansas. Her primary practice was Family Law. She was a distinguished member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
Her hobbies included gardening and floral arrangements, crafting with the grandkids, baking, balloon art, and photography. She was involved with Johnson County Old Settlers for many years and was President in 2018. She was the Committee Chair for the Old Settlers community flower show. Additionally, she was a member of the Olathe Garden Club and the MoKan Daylily Society. She was a former member of the Olathe Jaycees, and was elected as the first female President of the Jaycees in Kansas. She was also a former Regional Director of Girls Scouts.
Donna lived for her kids and grandkids. Her happy place was on her paddleboat, Wally, in the middle of Mound Lake, Minnesota, where she gave her grandkids rides, read countless books, took photos of the sunsets, and listened to the loons.
Donna is survived by her loving husband, Robert “Bobby” Manning; mother, Alice (Burns) Lenington; brother Dale Lenington; seven children: Ryan Manning, Matt Manning, J.T. Manning, Ben Manning; Dylan Manning, Casey Manning, Allison (Manning) Geist; and nineteen grandchildren with one on the way.
Funeral Mass was held Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Queen of the Holy Rosary, Bucyrus, KS. Buried took place at Mount Calvary Olathe Cemetery.
