Duane Edward Rahn, 67 year old resident of Swanville, MN, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2016 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 11, 2016 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Swanville, MN with Rev. Kevin Zellers officiating. Burial will take place at the Springbrook Cemetery in Swanville, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. on Thursday and from 10-11 A.M. on Friday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Swanville, MN.
Duane Edward Rahn was born on November 30, 1948 in Little Falls, Minnesota. He was the second son of Arnold and Holdine (Besemann) Rahn. At 19 months, Duane became diabetic and was cared for by his mother. He attended Swanville school until he left school at 14, to farm full-time. Duane loved farming and beginning his Guernsey herd. In August of 1969, in Little Falls, he was united in marriage to Nancy Tilton. In 1973, the couple purchased the family farm from his parents. They raised 4 children. Duane became disabled in 1998. He was a life-long member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Swanville.
Duane is survived by loving wife of 46 years, Nancy; brother, Dennis (Ann) Rahn of Delaware, OH; sister, Darlene Wegner of Alexandria, MN; children, Cindy (David) Bartkowitz of Sobieski, MN; Patty Traxler of Cleveland, MN; David (Becca) Rahn of Swanville, MN; and Mikel Rahn of Swanville, MN; grandchildren, Steven Bartkowitz, Christina Bartkowitz, Samantha Traxler, Jon Bartkowitz, Nathan Traxler, Dan Bartkowitz, and Joe Bartkowitz; sister-in-law, Terry Black of Salem, KY; nieces, Becky Rahn of Delaware, OH, Donna DeBoe of Evansville, IN; and nephews, Charlie (Ann) DeBoe of Salem, KY; Bill (Tiffany) DeBoe of Salem, KY; and Dennis (Trudy) Rahn of Delaware, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Holdine Rahn, and one infant child.
