Elmer H. Muellner, age 89 of Melrose, died Friday, November 30, 2018 at the Heritage of Foley Nursing Home in Foley, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, December 5 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating. Interment was held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Melrose.
Elmer Henry Muellner was born October 8, 1929 in Melrose, Minnesota to Raymond and Agnes (Tiemann) Muellner. On September 11, 1956 he was united in marriage to Bernadine Hiltner at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. In his younger years, Elmer helped farmers with chores on a number of farms in the area. He later worked for Jennie O Foods and Franklin Manufacturing, which is now Electrolux.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose, the Two Cylinder Club, Young at Heart Club, and the Local Lodge 623 of the International Association of Machinists. Elmer truly enjoyed working on his hobby farm in Melrose.
Survivors include his children, Linda (Tom) Morton of Melrose, Alma Muellner of Melrose, David Muellner of St. Cloud, and Donna (Thomas) Hamel of Plymouth; four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; brothers, Ralph (Regina) Muellner of Melrose and Alquin (Celestina) Muellner of St. Joseph; and sister, Mary (Edward) Zinniel of St. Cloud.
Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadine Muellner on May 24, 2012; and parents.
Serving as casket bearers were Alma Muellner, David Muellner, Donna Hamel, Tom Morton, Donald Hiltner, and John Muellner. Cross bearer was Kristen Hamel and scripture bearer was Samantha Hamel. Gift bearers were Alexandra Hamel and Natasha Hamel and lector was Linda Morton.
Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Melrose.
