Due to Covid-19 the federal government is mandating private family funerals
Emily Klassen, 87, of Long Prairie, passed away on March 11, 2020, at the Centra Care Nursing Home in Long Prairie. Funeral services for Emily will be held on Friday, March 20, 2020, 12:00 noon, at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie with Fr. Omar Guanchez officiating. Friends may call the day of the funeral one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Long Prairie.
Emily was born May 23, 1932, in Grey Eagle Township, Todd County, to Paul & Evelyn (Trumble) Rachey. On July 17, 1948, she married Dayton Erickson. They moved to Long Prairie in 1986 where Emily started working at American Family Insurance; she worked there until her retirement in 2002. Emily married Robert Klassen in 2002.
Emily enjoyed her trips to the casino, bowling and especially enjoyed traveling to visit family. She was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary.
Emily is preceded in death by her parents; husband Dayton, siblings: Robert Rachey, Fritz Rachey and Viola Strack.
She is survived by her husband Robert Klassen of Long Prairie, children: David (Terry) Erickson of Princeton, Becky (Gene) Janssen of Maple Grove; grandchildren: Mathew Erickson, Randy Janssen, Anna Yamana, Melissa Cook; great grandchildren: Riley Erickson, Reece Erickson, Parker Janssen and brother Loren (Diane) Rachey of Aitken.
