The Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Emma Voit, age 99 of Albany, was Monday, August 31 at the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. Emma died Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany.
Emma was born May 22, 1916 in Albany to August and Josephine (Korte) Kohorst. She married Alfred Voit on August 5, 1941 in Albany. The couple farmed together near Albany. Emma also worked at the Albany Area Hospital and the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home for a short while. Emma was a great baker and she made fantastic pies with light crusts. She was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Seven Dolors Christian Mothers, Catholic Aid and several Mission Groups.
Emma is survived by her children; Jerry (Dorine) Voit, Richmond; Arliss (Jim) Notch, Albany; Harry (Joni) Voit, Champlin; Marvin (Lorna) Voit, Duluth and Mary Jo (Tom) Klaverkamp, Kimball. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Emma is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alfred in 1996, and her brothers and sisters, Clem Kohorst, Gert rude Wohletz, Ursula Shay, Rose Wensmann, Joseph Kohorst, Catherine Shay, Veronica Klassen, Ervin Kohorst, Marie Viere, Dorothy Kohorst, Evelyn Luethmers, and Dora Kohorst.
