
Eugene J. “Gene” Yarke, age 81 of Sauk Centre, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Eugene John Yarke was born July 28, 1935 in Getty Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Albert, Sr. and Mary (Barrutt) Yarke. When Gene was younger his mother gave him the nickname “you-you.” Gene attended grade school in Meire Grove. He enjoyed traveling up north in his early years as well. Gene loved listening to KASM radio, especially the sports. He had a love for the Minnesota Twins. Gene was also known for spending a lot of his time in his garden.
Gene was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove.
Survivors include his siblings, Roger Yarke of Sauk Centre, Richard Yarke of Sauk Centre, Mary Ann (Allen) Blenker of Albany, Irene (Jim) Nathe of Greenwald, Joseph (Sarah) Yarke of Sauk Centre, Albert, Jr. (Joyce) Yarke of Greenwald, Joann (Rick) Scharenbroich of Elk River, Jane (James) Kraker of Grey Eagle, and Marlene (Steve) Gunderson of Vining; and many nieces and nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Lorraine Platenberg and Jerome Yarke.
