
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at First Baptist Church, Long Prairie, for Eulene B. Holmquist, age 87, of Long Prairie who passed away Friday at the Galeon Community in Osakis. Rev. Bert Holmquist officiated and burial was at Calvary Lutheran Cemetery, Little Sauk Township, Minnesota.
Eulene Bertha Triebenbach was born at home by the Head of the Lake, Osakis, Minnesota on March 15, 1931, the daughter of Alfred and Myrtle (Larson) Triebenbach. As a young girl, she moved with her parents to a farm just north of Gutches Grove. Eulene married Gene Holmquist on her parent’s farm on September 17, 1948. Eulene was a farm wife all her life. They farmed east of Little Sauk.
Eulene enjoyed quilting, gardening, flowers, chickens, playing cards and games with family and friends. If you ever stopped at Eulene’s house, the coffee was always on and there was a batch of fresh cookies in the cookie jar.
Eulene is survived by her seven children, Mary (Dennis) Wilcox, Verndale, Gerald (Julia) Holmquist, Long Prairie, Leonard (Wanda) Holmquist, Long Prairie, Royce (Apryl) Holmquist, Long Prairie, Arlene (Edwin) Franklin, Wadena, David (Margret) Holmquist, Long Prairie, and Darrel (Lisa) Holmquist, Long Prairie; also 23 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene on December 10, 2006, brother Elmer Triebenbach, sisters Hulda Triebenbach, Irene Plemel, Pauline Yff, and Elsie Frank, and two great-grandchildren.
