Evelyn A. Muellner, age 96 of Grey Eagle, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Melrose, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 30 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Rev. Ronald Dockendorf officiating. Interment was at the parish cemetery in Grey Eagle.
Evelyn Agnes Heinen was born October 23, 1918 in Millwood Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Henry and Elizabeth (Poepping) Heinen. On February 7, 1939 she married Rudolph Muellner at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa. After their marriage, the couple moved to St. Paul, Minnesota and then to Glenwood City, Wisconsin before moving to Grey Eagle where they farmed until retiring in 1988. After retirement, she continued to live on the farm for a total of 67 years before moving to Melrose. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Christian Mothers since 1946, and the St. Theresa and St. Francis Mission Groups.
Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, quilting, baking, and gardening. She planted a garden up until the age of 93 years.
Survivors include her children, Ronald (Ardis) Muellner of Albany, Karen Muellner of Waite Park, Gerald (Marlene) Muellner of Burtrum, Marlene Carlson of Springfield, Illinois, Gordon (Laura) Muellner of St. Cloud, Diane (Tom) Gwost of Savage, Glenn Muellner of Grey Eagle, and Carol (Jeremiah) Collins of Bloomington; 21 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; sisters, Florence Tschida of Grey Eagle, Lourdine Berscheit of Grey Eagle, and Mildred (Ambrose) Muellner of St. Cloud; brother-in-law, Tony Wegleitner of Melrose; and sisters-in-law, Rosemary Dunnell of Salem, Oregon and Rita Heinen of Sartell.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rudolph Muellner on January 18, 1992; daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Bert Olberding; grandson, Jeremiah Collins III; great-grandson, Colvin Bolstrom; brothers, Ray, Ed, and Harvey Heinen; and sisters, Delores Toeben, Marcella Ostendorf, Jeanette Berscheit, and Verena Wegleitner.
Serving as casket bearers were Rebecca Reber, Sandra Muellner, Roberta Hovland, Brenda McDermond, Jill Schmidt, and Amanda Dotson. Cross bearer was David Gwost and scripture bearer was Melanie Collins. Reader was Thom Muellner. Gift bearers were Juliann Collins, Katie Karlson, Charlotte Muellner, and Kim Muellner. Eucharistic Minister was Marilyn Muellner and Ralph Muellner served Mass.
Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Grey Eagle.
