Evelyn Chapin, age 80 of Long Prairie passed away Thursday, Aug. 9 at the CentraCare Hospital in Long Prairie. Memorial services were held Saturday, Aug. 11 at the American Lutheran Church in Long Prairie. Inurnment was at the Evergreeen Cemetery, Long Prairie.
Evelyn “Evie” Chapin, age 80 of Long Prairie, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at the CentraCare Hospital in Long Prairie, MN.
Evelyn Maxine Platt was born on May 14, 1938 to Everett and Grace (Tanberg) at home on the family farm. She attended country school and finished her education at the Osakis High School. She married LeRoy Chapin on September 17, 1955 and together they went on to raise four children. Evie worked for various employers including Title Atlas, Minnesota Distillers (until its closing), and finally at the Long Prairie High School. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, crocheting, playing with her schnauzer, Libby, watching the Timberwolves (she never missed a game), and most of all spending time with her friends and family. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly remembered and greatly missed by her family.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, LeRoy Chapin of Long Prairie; her children, Bob (Tammie) Chapin of Osakis, Ron (Lisa) Chapin, of Long Prairie, and Patty (Trevor) Zastrow of Long Prairie; 8 grandchildren, Jesse, Jack, Stacey, Aaron, Kelly, Samantha, Christian, and Maggie; 10 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jack; and a sister, Betty.
