Evonne L. Johnson, age 88 of Faribault, formerly of Grey Eagle, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the District One Hospital in Faribault, Minnesota.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 15 at the Grey Eagle United Methodist Church in Grey Eagle with Robert Kutter officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church in Grey Eagle.
Evonne Lucille Emerson was born June 20, 1930 in Ellington Township, West Concord, Minnesota. She graduated from West Concord High School and Augsburg College. She married Glen H. Johnson on June 19, 1954 and lived on the farm Glen purchased from his folks. Glen and Evonne moved to her parent’s farm in 1961. In September of 2004 they moved to Little Birch Lake.
Evonne enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, sewing, playing organ/piano for Trinity and Hegre Lutheran Churches, and bowling in West Concord (Secretary/Treasurer of the leagues she bowled in). She served in various positions and activities at Hegre Lutheran Church. She was Executive Secretary of the Dodge County United Way; taught school in Upsala, Milaca, and West Concord; worked for CO Brown Insurance Agency and Manpower as lead in the Office Systems Center at IBM. She was a member of the Upsala American Legion Auxiliary.
Evonne is survived by her children, Lonnie (Jan) Johnson and their children, Noel, Callie and Scott; Robbie (Mary) Johnson and their children, Rose and Andrew; and LuAnn Johnson; brother, Myron (Rosalie) Emerson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her husband, Glen Johnson on January 15, 2006; parents, James Victor Emerson and Charlotte (McAlister) Emerson; sister, Mary Joan Floren; and brothers, Victor Junior Emerson and Edgar Emerson.
