On Wednesday, February 14th, at approximately 3:10 p.m., the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center received a report of a crash with injuries at the intersection of County Road 11 and 365 Street in Oak Township, south of the city of Freeport.
Upon arrival at the scene, deputies observed a 2004 Ford Taurus with significant front-end damage in the west ditch of County Road 11, which was driven by Gerald Dobmeier, 72, of Freeport. Deputies also observed a 2018 Dodge Caravan on the roadway, also with significant front-end damage. The Caravan was driven by Tatum Holdvogt, 35, of Melrose and occupied by her three juvenile passengers ages 3, 2, and 1. Holdvogt told deputies she had been traveling northbound on County Road 11 towards Freeport when she lost control of her vehicle as it started to slide into the southbound lane. Her vehicle crossed the center line divider and collided head on into the Taurus. Dobmeier was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Tatum and her three juvenile passengers were not injured. The snow and slippery road conditions are believed to be a contributing factor of the crash. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Freeport Fire and Rescue and Melrose Ambulance.
