On February 21st, two thefts were reported in the Freeport area. The first was reported at 9:29 a.m. at a business in the 300 block of Industrial Drive. Sometime overnight, the suspects cut a lock to gain entrance into the fenced in yard. While in the yard, the suspects took several Rigid brand stackable tool boxes and a storage cart. In addition to those items, they took three Empire brand space heaters, which were described as two larger ones and one smaller one and numerous items of recyclable metals including aluminum and copper.
The second reported theft occurred in the 100 block of 2nd Avenue Northeast. Overnight, someone broke into a parked truck and stole several items. Those items included DeWalt drills, a DeWalt radio and a power converter. The drills can be identified by the letters MPW that were scribed on them. The loss in this theft was estimated at $500.
