Funeral services for Gerald “Bud” Rohde, 86 of Burtrum, who died suddenly on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 29 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle. Pastor Michael Bitz will officiate and burial will take place, on a later date, at Lakeview Cemetery in Grey Eagle. Visitation will also be at St. John’s Lutheran Church from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services Monday. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Williams Dingmann Stein Chapel in Long Prairie.
Bud was born July 31, 1932 in Grey Eagle Township to Edward & Vivian (Walker) Rohde. He married Luetta Canfield on November 16, 1957 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle. Bud worked for Butler Brothers in Nashwauk for over 31 years and after retirements returned to the Burtrum area and worked at the Village View Apts for many years as well as driving truck and helping his brothers on the farm, and tending bar at the Golden Eagle. Bud was kind and generous and loved to meet new people wherever he went. He enjoyed traveling and could strike up a conversation with anyone no matter where he met them.
Bud is survived by his beloved wife Luetta of 61 years, his children, Jeannie Thompson of Burtrum; Cindy (Ronald) Bruggenthies of Burtrum; Wayne Rohde of Burtrum; Shelly (Ernest) Henderson of Minneapolis; Kevin “Buddha” Rohde of Burtrum; daughter-in-law, Sharon Rohde Grey Eagle; siblings, June (Frank) Waldvogel, Harold (Pat) Rohde, Linda Rohde, 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Sharon who died in infancy, his son, David Rohde, siblings, Lorraine Denne, Vera Denne, Virginia Denne, David Rohde, Glen Rohde, Laverna Rohde, infant brothers, Frederick, James and Myron.
