Gerald (Gerry) Beck, 70, of Long Prairie, passed away on March 6, 2016, in St. Cloud. Funeral services for Jerry were held on March 9, 2016, at the Camp Ripley Chapel in Little Falls. Burial was held at the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Little Falls. A Celebration of Gerry’s life will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016, 3:00 p.m. at the American Legion in Long Prairie.
Gerald was born June 9, 1945, in Bertha to Oliver & Enid (Martin) Beck. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1966. On July 26, 1969, Gerry married Caroline (Connie) Dubisar in Hutchinson. He was living his dream of being a lifelong farmer. Gerry’s goals in life were to own a Mercedes, obtain his pilot’s license and have his own plane; he achieved all three. He spent his free time volunteering at the American Legion in Long Prairie and was a volunteer VA driver for many years. Gerry was a member of the American Legion in Long Prairie, 40/8 and the President of the North Fork Mutual Insurance Company. Gerry’s greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren at the farm.
Gerry is survived by his mother Enid Beck of Long Prairie; wife Connie of Long Prairie; children: Penny (Dan) Hoops of Sauk Rapids and Holly Beck of Maple Grove; siblings: Steve (Karen Hudalla) Beck of Browerville, Becky (Larry) Reynoldson of Boone, IA and Ronald (Joy) Beck of Menahga.
Gerry is preceded in death by his dad, Oliver Beck, sister, Susan Stender and sister-in-law Barb Beck.
