Gerald “Muggsie” Blonigen

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2016 at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin, MN for Gerald “Muggsie” Blonigen, age 84, who died Thursday at Lakeview Ranch in Dassel. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Gerald was born in St. Martin, MN to Leo and Julia (Sinclair) Blonigen. He married Jacqualine Palumbo on July 19, 1958 in St. Paul. Gerald served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Blonigen and Sons, and later worked for TKI Incorporated for 12 years. Gerald served on the Board of Directors and later became President of the St. Martin Bank from 1982-2012. He was the first Fire Chief in St. Martin, played St. Nicholas in St. Martin for many years and played baseball and softball. Gerald loved to sing, garden, fish, spend time in nature and his dogs.
Survivors include his children, Kevin (Joan) Blongien, Kelly (Andrew) Swartzentruber; sister-in-law, Pat Blonigen; grandchildren, Amanda (Jason) Berg, Joshua (Trista) Klaphake, Cortney Minette, Kailee Schaeffer, Logan Swartzentruber, Trent and Travis Blonigen.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie (2011); siblings, Cyril Blonigen, Jerome Blonigen, Clarice Lanz, Franices Blonigen, Lorraine Klesney, Donna Mae Memke, Virgl Blonigen, Mary Lou Blonigen, and Charles Blonigen.
