Geraldine Pekula

Geraldine Pekula, 79 year old resident of Swan River Township, Morrison County, Minnesota died Monday, January 25 at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 30 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN with Father Tim Wenzel officiating. The burial will be held in the parish cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 29 at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls and from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Saturday at the church in Sobieski, MN. A parish prayer will be said at 4:30 P.M. followed by the rosary at 5:30 P.M. with the Rosary Society, Daughters of Isabella and the Bowlus American Legion Auxiliary on Friday evening at the funeral home.
Geraldine M. Bursey was born April 13, 1936 in Bowlus, Minnesota to the late Frank and Brigette (Marsolek) Bursey. She attended District #136 country school and graduated from Royalton High School. After high school, she worked various jobs in South St. Paul from 1954 until 1956. Geraldine was united in marriage to Leonard Pekula on September 3, 1956 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Bowlus, MN. The couple made their home in Swan River Township. Geraldine was a homemaker all of her married life. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, quilting, snowmobiling, lawn ornaments, flowers, visiting and playing cards with neighbors. Geraldine was meticulous with her lawn and home. The couple enjoyed their various trips throughout the United States. She was a faithful member of the Bowlus American Legion Auxiliary and St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieksi, MN and was active with the Rosary Sodality, Mothers Club, and the Daughters of Isabella.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Leonard Pekula of Royalton, MN; children, Roland (Jeannie Zimmerman) Pekula of Sobieski, MN, Judy (Lloyd) Lashinski of Albany, MN, Roger (Susan) Pekula of Rice, MN; grandchildren, Jeremy (Andrea) Pekula, Jennifer (Nic) Schweisthal, Jason Lashinski, Cheryl (Angelo) DiAllesandro, Zoey Pekula, Zachary Pekula and Zayda Pekula; great-grandchildren, Tristan Pekula and Jackson Pekula; siblings, LeRoy (Jan) Bursey of Phoenix, AZ and Rita (Jim) Pekula of Little Falls, MN and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Janelle “Pookie” Pekula (2010); brothers, Art Bursey and Roman Bursey and a sister, Delores Lutes.
