Goldie E. Miland, age 92 of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany, Minnesota.
A funeral service was held Monday, December 13 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Marty Porter officiating. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Sauk Centre.
Goldie Elaine Dettler was born April 4, 1929 in Pillsbury, Minnesota, and was raised in Swanville. She married Raymond Gamradt on November 16, 1947, where they had a farm southwest of Sauk Centre. Following Ray’s death in 1954, Goldie moved into town with their two young sons.
Goldie married Kenneth Miland on January 19, 1958. Together they raised 10 children and, over 31 years, fostered 46 infants, children, and adults with special needs.
Survivors include her children, Bill (Gwen) Gamradt, John Gamradt, Lynne (BJ) Merten, Randy (Lynn) Miland, Bob (Sandee) Miland, David (Randy) Miland, Kim Miland, Byron (Jody) Miland, and Tami (Randy) Ruegemer; 23 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Janet Koehn; and many, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Goldie was preceded in death by both husbands, Ray Gamradt in 1954 and Ken Miland in 1999; parents, Rudy and Hilda Dettler; sister, Lorna Koehn; and brother, Ervin Dettler.
She had a beautiful life filled with family. And for anybody who knew her, you were part of her family, whether you knew her for 5 minutes or 50 years. She’s at peace now and will always be remembered.
