The Truth in Taxation meeting was called to order remotely by Mayor Joseph Arnzen at 6:30 p.m., on the 8th day of December 2020 in council chambers. Council members present at City Hall were Thom Muellner, Roland Ahrendt, Bill Pohlmann and Brian Hollenkamp. There were no council members absent. Also in attendance remotely was Clerk Lori Hellmann. There were no guests.
The purpose of the meeting is to explain to residents the financial needs for the year 2021 and how that affects the levy. The levy has increased over 2020 due to the addition of a Street Restoration Levy as part of the Sewer Project. When the proposed levy was approved at the September 8, 2020 City Council meeting, the total levy was for $135,974 which included $33,862 in additional Street Restoration levy that resulted in an anticipated 30% increase over the 2020 levy.
Member Brian Hollenkamp joined the meeting at 6:45 p.m.
A motion was made by Bill Pohlmann to approve a reduction in the Street Restoration Levy from $33,862 to $16,931. City funds will be used to make up the difference for 2021. This would result in an increase of 13.8% over the 2020 levy. A second was made by Brian Hollenkamp and a roll call vote was taken. Roland Ahrendt-aye, Thom Muellner-aye, Brian Hollenkamp-aye, Bill Pohlmann-aye, Joe Arnzen-aye. Motion carried.
There were no residents in attendance.
A motion was made by Bill Pohlmann to adjourn the meeting at 6:50 p.m. A second was made by Brian Hollenkamp and a roll call vote was taken. Roland Ahrendt-aye, Thom Muellner-aye, Bill Pohlmann-aye, Brian Hollenkamp -aye, Joe Arnzen-aye. Motion carried.
