Call to Order: Ron Frericks called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. The pledge of allegiance was recited. Members Present: Ron Frericks, Ray Bense, Mary Ann Primus & Mike Rohe.
Agenda Approval: A preliminary agenda was presented. Ron asked if there were additions to the agenda. Ray made the motion to accept the agenda. Mike made the second. All in favor. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes: The clerk provided copies of the July 7, 2014 minutes to the board. Ray made the motion to approve the minutes as written. Mike made the second, all in favor. Minutes approved.
Town Clerk’s Report: Clerk presented the claims list for July. Claims list included 10 claims for a total of $4,916.94. The list included $1,402.50 for ditch mowing which was done this month. Mike made the motion to approve the claims; Ray made the second, Motion carried unanimously. Clerk shared mail received this month; including a letter from MN Township Association stating the District 8 meeting will be on August 20 at Wadena. Also, a reminder that the September Township meeting will be on Sept. 8, due to Labor Day.
Treasurer’s Report: Mary Ann Primus presented the treasurer’s report as follows: Beginning Balance as of July 1, 2014: $280,978.30; Checks cleared: 17, $1,928.67; Deposits including interest: $18,488.53; Balance as of July 31, 2014: $264,418.44; Outstanding Deposits: 0.00; Outstanding Checks: 0.00; Cash Available: $264,418.44; CD Balance: $204,239.95. Ray made the motion to accept the treasurer’s report. Second by Mike. All in favor, Motion carried.
Road and Bridge Report: Ray reported that he and Erv H. had inspected the Angler Trail washout after the June meeting. Ray stated that Erv will blade off the edge of the road so that the water could run off. Several trees needed to be cleaned up after the wind storm. A report was made of a landowner placing a post in the road right of way. The Supervisors asked the clerk to send a letter to the property owner to request it be removed. Another question was raised as to drainage from a field and Ray recommended the property owner check with Soil & Water at Todd County. Tryg Hansen from DNR Parks and Trails was present to review the process for the upgrade on the Mound Lake Access Road. In order to clear up the access issue for the property owners on Conifer Drive the road was improved so that the Township would now be responsible for the maintenance under the cooperative agreement with the State of Minnesota. The DNR contributed to the cost of the upgrade, as well as residents on Conifer Drive. This will now ensure that those property owners will have legal ingress and egress rights. The documents will be recorded once the fence and brushing issues are completed.
Additional agenda items: The Eagle Mountain liquor license application was discussed and Mike made the motion to approve the township part of this application. Ray made the second. Motion carried. A property owner along Cottontail Drive was present and had a question about road right of way. The Clerk was asked to write a letter stating that this was not a Township Road.
Public Comment: A question was raised as to what the progress was with the paving project. Ray will contact Tri-City to see if the Township needs to meet with the contractor and what his schedule is.
