Call to Order: Ron Frericks called the meeting to order at 8:00 pm. The pledge of allegiance was recited.
Members Present: Ron Frericks, Ray Bense, Mary Ann Primus, Mike Rohe and Erv Herdering. Also present Wayne Cymbaluk.
Agenda Approval: A preliminary agenda was presented. Ron asked if there were additions to the agenda. Mike made the motion to accept the agenda. Ray made the second. All in favor. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes: The clerk provided copies of the April 5, 2021 minutes to the board. Ray made a motion to approve the minutes. Mike made the second. All in favor, Motion carried.
Wayne Cymbaluk was in attendance to report on the erosion issue on the Southeast side of Bass Lake. Ray had visited the area prior to the meeting. Wayne felt a little regrading of the shoulder would fix the problem. Ray will meet with Erv H. to see what should be done.
Town Clerk’s Report: Clerk presented the claims list for April. Claims list included claims 3567-3575 for a total of $45,171.35, this includes the new CD at $25,000.00. Some discussion on whether or not to pay for culvert cleaning on 331st. Ray felt the Township shouldn’t pay for it. Mike made the motion to approve the claims as presented. Ray made the second. Motion carried. Mail included advertising, a donation request and a Mn Power flyer about an upcoming zoom meeting. Ray made the motion to have the CD put in for two years, for a better rate. Mike made the second. Motion carried.
Road and Bridge Report: Ray spoke with several of the fire department members before he got information on the truck fire on Brakken Road. He received a check from the truck owners’ insurance company to cover cost to repair the tar road. He also checked with Midwest Asphalt for a bid on repairing holes in the road on Breezy Drive, 341st and Brakken Road. Mike made the motion to accept the Midwest Asphalt quote for $11,200.00 to repair the 5 spots Ray located. Ray made the second. All in favor. Motion carried. Road check was done on April 10, several small projects were put on the list for 2021 along with some tree trimming. Ray made a motion to approve the list. Second by Mike. All in favor. Motion carried. Dust control- several checks have come in already. It was decided to do some work on the roads before considering more overall dust control. Discussion on the petition that Ron received for a culvert along Breezy Drive- Ray felt the Township should stay out of it. Ron felt it would be a good idea to at least listen in on the zoom meeting in July. Ron then reported on Knife River trucks hauling on Ascot and 335th. When he contacted the company, they stated the trucks were of legal limit.
Additional agenda item: The clerk presented the American Rescue Plan which states the Township will be receiving Federal dollars this summer. Not much information has been sent but a zoom meeting is scheduled for later this month.
Equalization meeting had no cases to discuss. There were 20 good sales in the Township.
Beach mowing and dock installation was awarded to Hinman Lawn Service on a motion by Ray and second by Mike. All in favor. Motion carried.
Animal Bounty ordinance was discussed and a motion made by Ray and second by Mike to allow $1.00 for gopher feet and $50.00 for a beaver that is damaging the roadway. These must be presented to a board supervisor before payment can be made.
Adjournment: Motion by Ray to adjourn the meeting. Mike made the second. Meeting adjourned at 9:35 pm.
