Call to Order: Ron Frericks called the meeting to order at 8:00 pm. The pledge of allegiance was recited.
Members Present: Ron Frericks, Ray Bense, Mary Ann Primus, Mike Rohe and Erv Herdering.
Agenda Approval: A preliminary agenda was presented. Ron asked if there were additions to the agenda. Ray made the motion to accept the agenda. Mike made the second. All in favor. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes: The clerk provided copies of the September 7, 2021 minutes to the board. Ray made a motion to approve the minutes. Mike made the second. All in favor, Motion carried.
Town Clerk’s Report: Clerk presented the claims list for September. Claims list included claims 3612-3620 for a total of $3,607.26. Ray made the motion to pay the claims, Mike made the second. All in favor, Motion carried. Mail included a job posting for Columbia Gear and U of MN training notice.
Road and Bridge Report: Ray asked about who is responsible for trees that fell during the last storm. Discussion was had about the need to get them out of the road right of way. Property owners should be cleaning up trees from their properties, however, several are absent owners or elderly. Ron said he would clean up what is left to clean up now. Scherping and Carr’s will begin cutting in the areas that were discussed at last month’s meeting. Ray reported the crack filling has been completed. Ray reported he has visited with Erv about the boat access on Big Birch and how to improve it. Erv presented a bid for $6,500.00. He stated he may need a permit from the county but DNR was ok with it as long as he didn’t go in the water. Mike made a motion to accept the bid, Ray made the second. All in favor. Motion carried. Some discussion on obstructions and trees planted in the road right of way. Board members were unsure of the exact width of the road, however, there needs to be room for snow disposal and maintenance.
Clerk will prepare a letter to the property owner. Ron reported he had checked on the sewage line that was put through Arbor Drive, and said it was very well done.
Arctic Dr., had a call about gravel not spread out, which Erv took care of. Angler and Ascot had several washouts after the heavy rain. Erv presented his 2021-2022 snow removal contract at $105 per hour. Ray made a motion to accept the contract amount, Mike made the second. All in favor. Motion carried.
Additional agenda item: Ron reported on the County Officers meeting he attended.
Several speakers gave updates about county redistricting, septic updates, sheriff’s office now using drones and a K9 dog, County road projects, and others.
Public Comment: None.
Adjournment: Motion by Ray to adjourn the meeting. Mike made the second. Meeting adjourned at 8:50 pm.
