Call to Order: Ron Frericks called the meeting to order at 8:00 pm. The pledge of allegiance was recited.
Members Present: Ron Frericks, Ray Bense, Mary Ann Primus, Mike Rohe and Erv Herdering.
Agenda Approval: A preliminary agenda was presented. Ron asked if there were additions to the agenda. Mike made the motion to accept the agenda. Ray made the second. All in favor. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes: The clerk provided copies of the August 2, 2021 minutes to the board. Ray made a motion to approve the minutes. Mike made the second. All in favor, Motion carried.
Town Clerk’s Report: Clerk presented the claims list for August. Claims list included claims 3605-3611 for a total of $2,601.87. Ray made the motion to pay the claims, Mike made the second. All in favor, motion carried. Mike made the motion to renew the R&B CD that is up for renewal this month. Ron made the second. All in favor. Motion carried. Mail included a notice for the County Officer meeting on Sept 22 in Clarissa – Ron will attend. Also, a U of M workshop, and Township Association training, as well as a pipeline letter and a P&Z notice.
Road and Bridge Report: Ray reported on the many trees that went down during the recent storm. Property owners should be removing those trees that fell from their property and are in the road right of way. Discussion on the bid from Carr’s Tree Service to do brushing and trimming on Brakken, 295th and 130th East. Mike made a motion to accept the Carr’s bid for $8,250.00, Ray made the second, All in favor. Motion carried. Some discussion about 335th and Ascot Road to the Morrison Line Road – Jeremy Scherping sent a quote for approx. $12,000 with a plus or minus $1,500. Ray made a motion to accept the bid, Mike made the second. All in favor. Motion carried. Ron had several calls this month about trees hanging over the roadway, one about potholes on Ash Dr. (which is a private road) and one about dumping weeds on the public access. Mike brought up a property that has fence posts and trees planted that may be in the road right of way. Mary Ann will check on how the road is recorded as far as the width. Ron had asked Erv to check into cost for upgrading the boat access using cement planks. It is too steep and will need to be cut down. Erv stated even the DNR is having trouble getting products. He will prepare a bid for next month.
Additional agenda item: District 8 meeting was held via Zoom. Ron reported on the discussion of ARP funds and uses. Lori Stalker has resigned and an election was held. Frank Hard was elected to replace Lori. Ron also suggested perhaps the Township should look into renting a boom chopper next year as was advertised in the Township magazine.
