ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Motorists who travel Highway 15 between Benton Drive and Highway 10 in Sauk Rapids and Sartell will find several changes beginning Monday, Sept. 8, when traffic switches from the southbound side of the road to the northbound side.
Through mid-October, motorists can expect these traffic changes while crews reconstruct the southbound lanes of Highway 15:
· Highway 15 between Benton Drive and Highway 10 will remain a single lane in each direction. There will be head-to-head traffic travelling on temporary, narrow lanes on the new northbound side of the road with a reduced speed limit.
· All lanes of northbound Highway 15 will remain closed between County Road 29 and Highway 10. A signed detour will direct motorists along eastbound County Road 29 to Highway 10.
· The ramp from southbound Highway 15 to County Road 33/Benton Drive will close. A signed detour will direct motorists to exit early at westbound County Road 29, to County Road 33/Benton Drive.
· The northbound Highway 15/18th Street N intersection will be restricted to right-in, right-out only. · The southbound Highway 15/18th Street N intersection will be closed.
· The ramp from County Road 33/Benton Drive to northbound Highway 15 will open permanently.
The work and traffic changes are part of the Highway 15/Highway 10 resurfacing and reconstruction project. The project will reconstruct all lanes of Highway 15 between Benton Drive and Highway 10, and resurface or reconstruct Highway 10 between East St. Germain Street and Watab Road. The project will help ensure MnDOT’s transportation system continues to serve the state for many years.
