Little Falls area residents and businesses are invited to attend an open house about a major road project that will reconstruct Highway 27 through downtown Little Falls in 2019.
The public open house will be held Thursday, April 4, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Little Falls City Hall, 100 7th Ave. NE.
A business “Meet and Greet” open house and information session will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. the same day, at the same location. All are invited to attend either open house.
Open house attendees will be able to learn details about the project including the work to be performed, schedule, traffic plans and more. A project layout will be on display, and MnDOT staff will be available to answer questions and take comments. The open house format is informal, and guests are invited to arrive any time.
“While a few blocks of Highway 27 will need to be closed to complete all the work in a single construction season, there is a great system of local roads around the project area,” said Greg Zylka, Little Falls mayor. “No matter where you’re going, you’ll always be able to get to your favorite destinations and events in Little Falls in 2019.”
Construction is scheduled to begin in late-April, with all roads open in fall 2019. While segments of Highway 27 will be closed and detoured at different times, all businesses and other local destinations will remain accessible throughout the project.
The 2019 Highway 27 Little Falls construction project will reconstruct or resurface Highway 27 between Fifteenth Street SW and Ninth Street SE in Sixth Street W and Second Street E, install new sidewalks, curb, gutter, bike lanes, and improve signal systems and underground utilities. When complete, the project will result in a smoother ride and extend the life of the road along two miles of Highway 27 through downtown Little Falls, upgrade city utilities, and improve safety, drainage and pedestrian accessibility through downtown Little Falls.
