Motorists must plan alternate routes
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – (11:05 a.m.) Highway 4 is closed just south of Stearns County Road 14, 13 miles south of Interstate 94 between Meire Grove and Lake Henry, due to a washout undermining the road. Crews have installed temporary embankment to help protect the road from further damage, and are monitoring the location.
The road will remain closed until further notice.
When a road is closed it is illegal to drive around or remove cones, barrels or other barricades placed to close the road to public travel. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, or damage infrastructure, other expenses and penalties will apply.
Motorists who travel Highway 4 near Spring Lake should plan alternate routes and add additional time for travel as needed.
