ST CLOUD, Minn. – Motorists who travel Highway 71 through Sauk Centre will encounter delays after a project to reconstruct underground utilities begins Tuesday, June 12. Motorists should plan their travel, and expect the following:
· June 12 through June 14 – all lanes of Highway 71 will close. Motorists should follow the signed detours along local roads.
· June 15 through July 2 – the northbound lane of Highway 71 will remain closed and detoured, and the southbound lane of Highway 71 will shift to a narrow, temporary lane through the work zone.
Motorists approaching the Highway 71 work zone should slow down, navigate the detour routes along local city roads with caution, and move over to give crews room to work safely within the work zone.
All lanes of Highway 71 in Sauk Centre are scheduled to open by July 3.
When complete, the project will replace city of Sauk Centre sewer, sanitary and water utilities, reconstruct Highway 71 lanes and make other improvements while lanes are closed.
For more information about this project, contact city of Sauk Centre Engineer Chuck Boser at 320-229-5537.
