Stearns County’s Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) truck will be heading to Greenwald, Sauk Centre, Melrose, and St. Anthony doing mobile collections in May. The HHW truck travels to cities in the area over the summer months collecting for free hazardous products homeowners no longer want or need that don’t belong in the garbage.
The truck will be at the:
Greenwald Rec Building, 121 N 4th St W, on Wednesday, May 6 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Sauk Centre Hockey Arena, 818 Centre St, on Wednesday, May 13 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Melrose Fire Hall, 405 N. 2nd Ave E SE, on Wednesday, May 20 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
St. Anthony Church, 24326 Trobec St., Albany, on Wednesday, May 27 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
This is a chance for residents to get rid of all those unsafe or nuisance products lying around the house, such as paints, gasoline, fluorescent bulbs, car seats, batteries, pesticides, fertilizers, insecticides, cleaning products, poisons, roofing tar, automotive chemicals, garden & pool chemicals, propane cylinders, ink/toner cartridges, adhesives, aerosols, solvents, mothballs and mercury. The County website has a full list of accepted items, stearnscountymn.gov/1496. Products can be disposed of at no charge.
Items that CANNOT be accepted through the Household Hazardous Waste Mobile Program include electronics, oil and oil filters, explosives, furniture, household garbage, tires, medical waste, appliances, or any other unknown products. Also not accepted is business waste. These collections are designed to collect home, not business, products.
For those who cannot make this scheduled mobile collection time, the Stearns County Household Hazardous Waste Facility, located at 3601 5th Street South in Waite Park, accepts products year-round, Monday through Saturday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:15 p.m. Go to the Stearns County web site at StearnsCountyMN.gov/687 to see other mobile collection dates and times.
