ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Motorists on both directions of Interstate 94 in Rogers and St. Michael will encounter reduced speed limits, narrowed lanes and potential slow or stopped traffic as all lanes of the interstate are shifted to temporary bypass lanes after 8 p.m., Friday, April 3.
After 8 p.m., crews will close the existing lanes of I-94 between Highway 101 in Rogers and Highway 241 in St. Michael, and switch all four lanes of I-94 to temporary bypass lanes on the eastbound side of the road while the westbound side is reconstructed.
Traffic will remain on temporary bypass lanes until September 2015.
The closures are needed while crews complete the I-94 Corridors of Commerce project in Rogers and St. Michael. The project will:
· Add a third lane to westbound I-94 between Highway 101 and Highway 241
· Add an auxiliary lane to eastbound I-94 between Highway 101 and Highway 241 · Extend the deceleration lane from westbound I-94 to Highway 101 · Improve the I-94 bridges spanning the Crow River
· Construct a noise barrier
· Make other improvements while lanes are closed for construction
When complete in October 2015, the project will reduce congestion and improve the efficiency of the transportation system in the Rogers, St. Michael and Albertville areas.
