ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Motorists traveling Interstate 94 near the Highway 27/Osakis interchange may encounter delays as both directions of the interstate are intermittently closed overnight beginning Monday, April 3 through Wednesday, April 5.
The closures will begin at 9 p.m. each night, and all lanes of I-94 will open by 6 a.m. the following day. Traffic will be detoured up and down the I-94/Highway 27 interchange ramps while the I-94 lanes beneath the Highway 27 Bridge are closed.
The closures are needed while crews remove the existing Highway 27 Bridge Deck over I-94.
After these overnight closures are complete, motorists should plan for the following:
· The Highway 27 Bridge spanning I-94 will remain closed through early July.
· All ramps at the I-94/Highway 27 interchange will remain open until further notice.
· I-94 at Highway 27 will be reduced to a single lane as needed through early July.
· More information on future traffic changes will be issued as details become available.
The work and closures are part of a project to repair and resurface the Highway 27 Bridge over I-94, repair and resurface both bridge approaches and resurface all four interchange ramps. When complete, the project will extend the life of the bridge and improve the road’s ride.
