Irene E. Kittelson

Irene E. Kittelson, 78 year old resident of Little Falls, MN, formally of Avon and Alexandria MN, passed away Monday, February 16, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Funeral service was held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN with Rev. Keith Thompson officiating. Burial took place at Bearhead Cemetery in Pillsbury, MN.
Irene was born on February 25, 1936 in Swanville, Minnesota to Frank and Gladys (Martin) Hanson. She graduated from Swanville High School. Irene married Lloyd Kittelson, Jr. on March 15, 1955. Irene and Lloyd called Little Falls, St. Paul, Royalton, and Alexandria their home. The couple were married for 51 years before his passing in 1996. Irene retired from Fingerhut Corporation in Alexandria. She spent her retirement years with her children and grandchildren; which were the joy of her life. Irene enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. She was known for her spur-of-the-moment trips to visit family and friends; or to try her luck at the casino. She loved to entertain and was always willing to help someone in need. Her door was always open for good conversation and a hot meal on the table.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Dorinda Peterick of Little Falls, MN; son and daughter-in-law Dalen and Sheryl Kittelson of Avon, MN; Son-in-Law Glenn Peterick of St. Cloud, MN; 10 Grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd Jr.: four sons, Daniel, Douglas, Dean, and Darvin; daughter-in-Law, Stephanie; and grandson, Jamie Peterick.
