Isabelle I. “Isey” Ostendorf, age 91 of Grey Eagle, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, November 14, 2014 at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 22 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ronald Dockendorf officiating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Isabelle Irene Neuberger was born June 4, 1923 in Ellis, Kansas to John and Frances (Weber) Neuberger. On September 24, 1940 she was united in marriage to Edwin Ostendorf in Long Prairie. The couple farmed west of Grey Eagle. They owned and operated the Rock Tavern in Grey Eagle from 1957 to 1973.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle and the Christian Mothers.
Survivors include her children, Gary (Sharon) Ostendorf of St. Joseph, Ron (Carol) Ostendorf of Brooklyn Park, Rick (Jan) Ostendorf of Alvarado, TX, Bob (Paula) Ostendorf of Sauk Centre, and Ken (Cindy) Ostendorf of Sauk Centre; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Bob Neuberger of Yuma, AZ, Josey Slack of California, Ann Ellering of N St. Paul, and Joe Neuberger of Harris.
Isey was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Ostendorf on July 29, 1993; parents; great-grandchildren, Cody, Shawn, and Mark Ostendorf; brothers, Carl, Rudy, and John Neuberger; sisters, Bertha Grunke, Mary Clendenin, and Helen Schweigert.
