James B. “Jim” Schirmers, age 58 of Albany, passed away after a short battle with brain cancer on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at his farm in Albany, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 26 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany with Rev. Julius Beckermann, O.S.B. officiating. Entombment was in the parish cemetery.
James Bernard Schirmers was born August 7, 1962 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Leo and Irene (Zazek) Schirmers. He loved farming with his brother Dennis which was a century farm. He was employed at SpartanNash in St. Cloud for 32 years as a shipping supervisor, transportation, and an over road truck driver. He loved the people he worked with at SpartanNash and truck driving. Jim was a very kindhearted person to anyone that was in need. He enjoyed spending time with his nephew and niece, his dogs, cattle, and doing farm work.
Jim is survived by his siblings, Lori (John) Heinen of St. Joseph, Dennis of Albany, Greg of Avon, and Lisa (Mike) Verkinnes of St. Cloud; nephew, Jake Verkinnes; and niece, Brooke Verkinnes.
Preceding Jim in death were his parents.
Serving as casket bearers were Mark Gangl, Tim Rieland, Chad Cruzen, Chad Westering, Paul Boeckermann, and Dave Geise. Reader was Ann Chaika. Gift bearers were Jake Verkinnes, Brooke Verkinnes, and Aaliyah Mixteco.
Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Melrose.
