December 17, 2013 by Hometown News

James “Jim” Donald Paggen
Age 72
Of Holdingford
April 10, 1941-December 13, 2013

Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of James “Jim” D. Paggen, age 72 of Holdingford will be 11AM Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at All Saints Catholic Church–St. Mary. Father Gregory Mastey will officiate and burial will take place in the St. Hedwig’s parish cemetery following the mass. Jim died peacefully at his home with his family at his side after a hard fought battle with cancer. There will be a visitation from 4-8PM Tuesday, December 17th at All Saints Catholic Church-St. Mary and again from 10AM until the time of the service Wednesday morning once again at the church. Parish prayers will take place at 6PM Tuesday evening at the church. Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home of Holdingford.

Jim was born April 10th 1941 in St. Rose to Raymond and Victoria (Stegura) Paggen. He married Janice Kuklok on September 2, 1964 in Opole. Jim will forever be known as a “Jack of all tra
des.” He spent time working for the Opole Creamery, Lane Lockers, Our Own Hardware, and was also a boiler operator at Kraft before eventually opening Jim’s Snowmobile and Marine in Holdingford in 1971. With his family, he operated Jim’s Snowmobile until retiring into farming in 1994. Besides Jim’s love of work and family, he had a lot of unique hobbies in life as well. He enjoyed racing snowmobiles, ice spearing fish, making maple syrup, ATV trips, and restoring antique tractors. Jim was also very active in his community and church. He was a school board member for Holdingford High School, a member of the Board of Directors for Stearns Bank, a Boy Scout Master for many years, one of the founding member of Holdingford Sno-Flyers, and an active member of St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church. What Jim enjoyed most in life was the time he got to spend with family and also any time he got to spend visiting with friends and neighbors in the community.

Jim is survived by his wife Janice Paggen, Holdingford; his son Scott Paggen, Holdingford; his daughter Kelly (Vince Banks) Paggen, Gary, IN; his granddaughters Kyra Steele and Kara Paggen; his siblings Delphine Stoermann, Albany; Marilyn Douvier, St. Joseph; Claudette (Joseph) Czech, Gilman; Millie May, Holdingford; Ronald (Arlene) Paggen, Opole; and Ben Paggen, Raymond (Sandy) Paggen, and Joe (Diane) Paggen, all of St. Stephen.
