James R. “Jim” Imdieke

James R. “Jim” Imdieke, age 75 of Melrose, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Melrose, Minnesota.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 30 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose with Rev. Daniel Walz officiating. Entombment will be held at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in St. Rosa with military honors by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
James Robert Imdieke was born May 25, 1942 in Melrose, Minnesota to Herman and Wilma (Halbmaier) Imdieke. He graduated from Melrose High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps where he was honorably discharged in 1965 after four years of service. On September 30, 1967 he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Westermeyer at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa. Jim built airplanes for Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, California for three years before returning to Melrose in 1968. He worked at the Melrose Locker, Hunstiger’s Meats in St. Cloud, and Imdieke’s Meats in Melrose. Jim owned and operated Jim’s City Meats in Melrose from 1982 until his retirement in 2005.
He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa. Jim enjoyed woodworking, fishing, birdwatching, taking care of his immaculate lawn, going for walks, and taking rides around the countryside.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Jane Imdieke of Melrose; daughters, Gwen (Dennis) Davidson of Byron and Tammy Waldvogel (fiancé, Rick Granquist) of St. Cloud; five grandchildren, Andy Wendt, Liz Davidson, Kate Davidson, Mitchell Waldvogel, and Derek Waldvogel; brother, Dick (Gwen) Imdieke of Belgrade; and sisters, Pauline (James) Eubanks of Greenwood, South Carolina, and Joan (Howard) Henry of Blaine.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, David Imdieke.
Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Melrose.
