Jared J. Leyendecker

Jared J. Leyendecker, 11 year old resident of Burtrum, MN passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Swanville, MN with Father Ron Dockendorf officiating. Burial will take place in the St. John’s Parish Cemetery in Swanville, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. on Wednesday and from 10-11 A.M. on Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Swanville, MN.
Jared was born on March 17, 2003 in Sauk Centre, MN to Anthony and Susan (Brake) Leyendecker. He grew up in Swanville, MN where he attended Swanville Public Schools and was currently in the sixth grade. Jared was a very active boy that loved being outdoors riding four wheelers, hunting, fishing, and attending rodeo events. Jared’s most recent accomplishment was, he went on a guided hunt in West Union, IA and bagged two trophy animals that he was very proud of. One was a 6×7 Elk as well as a trophy Jacobs two horn ram. Jared also loved to deer hunt and has a trophy nine point buck. All these animals he shot with one shot which got him the nickname “One Shot Jared”. Though the outdoors were his passion, Jared always kept his school work as a top priority, receiving straight A’s in all of his classes. In September of 2012 Jared was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma and underwent several operations as well as numerous chemo and radiation treatments. Though this illness changed his life, Jared never let it slow him down and keep him from being an active young boy. He will be forever remembered for his good natured spirit and the concern he always had for others around him. Jared was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Jared is survived by parents, Anthony and Susan Leyendecker of Burtrum, MN; siblings, Logan, Dalton, and Chloe Leyendecker all at home; grandparents, Helen Brake of Grey Eagle, MN and Louis and Shirley Leyendecker of Paynesville, MN; aunts and uncles, Agnes (Bob) Bearson of Long Prairie, MN, Larry (Patty) Brake of Grey Eagle, MN, Jim (Sarah) Brake of Grey Eagle, MN, Mark (Janelle) Leyendecker of Paynesville, MN, Darren (Julie) Leyendecker of Forest City, MN, Kathy (Perry) Larsen of Eden Valley, MN, and Chris (Paula) Leyendecker of Roscoe, MN; and many cousins.
Jared is preceded in death by grandfather, John Brake.
Honorary Casketbearers will be the Swanville 6th Grade Class.
Casketbearers will be Tyler Bearson, Jason Leyendecker, Adam Leyendecker, Thomas Leyendecker, Tyler Larsen, and Shelby Bell.
