The Mass of Christian burial, celebrating the life of John “Buddy” J. Urbashich Jr., age 84 of Albany, was held Monday, December 18 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St Anthony. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Buddy died at Koronis Manor in Paynesville on Thursday, December 14.
John was born on May 4, 1933 on the family farm in Krain Township to John Sr. and Theresa (Schmidt) Urbashich. John grew up on the family farm and attended school in St. Anthony. He married Mary Jane Job on August 23, 1958 in Freeport, MN. The couple made their home and worked on the family century farm in Krain Township. Buddy was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Buddy raised and trained quarter horses and raised blue heeler dogs. He loved to travel, especially taking trips out west to cowboy country and to the mountains. Buddy enjoyed family time especially time with the grandchildren and was passionate about Massey tractors.
John is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; children, Cindy (Brad) Johanson, Chisago City, MN, Jim (Roxanne) Urbashich, Holdingford, MN, Mary Hanslow, Nolensville, TN, Missy (Jeff) Olmscheid, Cold Spring, MN: eight grandchildren, Michael & Lindsey Urbashich, Thomas & Sarah Johanson, Kayla Hanslow, and Hailee, Noah, & Emma Olmscheid. He is also survived by his sisters, Marion Kinder, Aberdeen, SD, Joan (Artie) Job, Dayton, MN, and Jan (Roger) Voit, Albany, MN.
John is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Theresa Ann (2010) and sisters and brother, Florentine Schneider, Sally Thell, Joseph Urbashich, and Theresia Urbashich.
