Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Avon, for Joseph E. Zwilling, age 71, of Avon, who died on Saturday, July 28 2012, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Rev. Blane Wasnie, OSB officiated and burial followed in the parish cemetery.
Joseph was born May 24, 1941 in St. Cloud to Joseph Sr. and Marie (Duclos) Zwilling. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Joseph married Joan Rosenberger on September 5, 1964 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, St. Cloud. He worked at Dezurik for 40 years, most recently as a Customer Service Manager until his retirement in 2000. Joseph was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, charter member of the Avon Lions Club, VFW, and a 20 year retired Avon fireman. He served on the Avon City Council from 1968-1970 and again from 1997-1998. Joseph enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing and wintering in Florida. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family and riding his scooter.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Joan of Avon; children, Jodi of Avon, Jason (Ruthie) of Watertown; mother, Marie of Avon; siblings, Nick (Kathy) of St. Cloud, Ron (Pat) of Newnan, GA, Ken (Pam) of Phoenix, AZ, Mark (Bernie) of Champlin, Michael (Pat) of Avon; aunts, Therese Lambert of Avon, and Helen Middendorf of Albany. He was preceded in death by his father in 1995.
