Joseph F. “Joe” Wielenberg, Jr., age 70 of Burtrum, died Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at his home in Burtrum, Minnesota.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 4 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ron Dockendorf officiating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Joseph Frank Wielenberg, Jr. was born May 11, 1949 in Melrose, Minnesota to Joseph, Sr. and Marie (Herdering) Wielenberg. He graduated from Melrose High School in 1967 and began working on a turkey farm just outside Melrose. On May 26, 1974 he was united in marriage to Magdalen Stadtherr at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Joe started dairy farming and in 1996, began working at Jennie-O Turkey Store, retiring in 2015. Being a farmer, Joe enjoyed the outdoors and loved helping his brother, Lawrence, on the farm. He loved talking about tractors and going to antique tractor shows and visiting with his family and friends.
Survivors include his son, David (Jeannette) Wielenberg of Bemidji; two grandsons, Samuel and Matthew, both at home; brothers and sisters, Kathy Bauer of Melrose, Dennis (Mary) Wielenberg of Upsala, Lawrence Wielenberg of Melrose, Vince (Bernadette) Wielenberg of Grey Eagle, Bernie (Alvin) Holdvogt of Freeport, Mary Wielenberg of St. Cloud, and Bonnie Haugrud of Pelican Rapids.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Magdalen Wielenberg on September 30, 2009; parents; and brothers, Patrick and Melvin Wielenberg.
Memorials are preferred.
