Joseph H. Boeckers

Joseph H. “Joe” Boeckers, age 66 of Upsala, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. A private family burial will take place at a later date in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in New Munich.
Joseph Hildebrand Boeckers was born March 4, 1953 in Melrose, Minnesota to Arnold and Lorraine (Hoeschen) Boeckers. He was the third of nine children. Joe graduated from Melrose High School in 1971. After high school Joe enlisted in the Army and served as a mechanic in Germany. He received the Battallion Certificate of Achievement for outstanding performance of duty in preventative maintenance. Following his service, Joe was in the Army National Guard. Joe continued his love of farming when he purchased his own farm 1 ½ miles East of Upsala. Joe also worked various jobs outside of his farm.
Joe loved to spend time with his family. He also had a passion for farming. Joe enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bowling, and being in the outdoors. He was always willing to stop his own work and help out someone else in need.
Survivors include his daughters, Laura (Jason) Moening of Freeport and Rebecca (Eric) Kingston of Tioga, ND; four grandchildren, Noah and Grace Moening and Amanda and Julia Kingston; and siblings, Carol Schneider of St. Cloud, Judy (David) Nelson of Monticello, Jim (Diane) Boeckers of New Munich, Irene (Donald) Lieser of Meire Grove, Marilyn McDonald of Richland, WA, and Lois (Tim) Matti of Blaine.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Lorraine Boeckers; sister, Sandy Boeckers; and brother, Marvin Boeckers.
Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Melrose.
