Joseph “Joe” Cichon, 39 year old resident of New Ulm, MN formerly of Swanville, MN died Thursday in New Ulm, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 12 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Swanville, MN with Father Ron Dockendorf officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. Friends may gather from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN and from 10:00-11:00 A.M. on Friday at the church in Swanville, MN.
Joseph Steven Cichon was born June 18, 1973 in Little Falls, MN to the late Jerome “Jerry” and Mary Ann (Bienek) Cichon. He grew up in Swanville, MN and graduated from Swanville High School with the class of 1991. After high school he attended Alexandria Vo-Tech. Joseph lived in various cities through out Minnesota. He worked as retail manager with Thrifty White Drug, Walgreen’s, Snyder Drug and Advanced Auto Parts. Most recently he lived in New Ulm, MN where, he owned and operated the Sears store from 2004 until 2007. Joe was currently working at Aschenbrenner Trucking and at the Pub and Patio. He took care of his father Jerry, during his illness and was at his side when he died. Joe will be remembered as a Renaissance man with a big heart and positive attitude. He was very outgoing and would engage in conversation with everyone he met. He was active with dart leagues and enjoyed a good game of pool with friends. Joe enjoyed deer hunting, football, baseball, golf, pinball and brewing his own beverages. He treasured his time spent with family and friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Aevaleen; siblings, Kathy (Brian) Burgardt of Little Falls, Jim (Shannon) Cichon of Swanville, David Cichon of Little Falls and Roger Cichon of Swanville; nieces and nephews, Kayla (Craig) Bohnsack, John Cichon, Dani and Niki Cichon and great-nieces, Addison and Emma Bohnsack;
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome “Jerry” and Mary Ann (Bienek) Cichon.
