Karen B. Winkels

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 9, 2018 at St. Catherine’s Oratory in Farming, MN for Karen B. Winkels, age 71, who died Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Burial will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetary.
Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., Thursday, February 8 and from 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. Friday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond.
Karen Bernadine Didier was born April 27, 1946 in Melrose to Al H. “Shorty” and Loretta (Kemper) Didier. She graduated from Osakis High School in 1964 before attending college at the St. Cloud Beauty College. Karen married Leander Winkels on June 25, 1966 at St. Alexius Catholic Church, West Union, MN. She was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Farming, MN. Karen enjoyed baking bread, playing cards, fishing, singing and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband Leander; children, Tom (Christie) Winkels of Albany, Dan (Doreen) Winkels of Avon, Donald (Shirley) Winkels of Avon, Deb (Todd) Reber of Albany, Patty (Duane) Schmitz of Richmond, Gail Schneider of Albany, Gary (Vicki) Winkels of Albany, Sarah (Jeff) Suchy of Avon, Amanda (Zachary) Zierden of Albany; mother, Loretta Didier of Freeport; sister, Jeanette “Jean” (David) Gapinski of Foley and 22 grandchildren and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her father, Al Didier; grandson, Andrew Schneider; father and mother-in-law Leo and Helen (Kron) Winkels.
