Kenneth G. Kuhl, Sr., 74 year old resident of Swanville, MN, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at his residence. A Memorial Service was held Saturday, January 31st at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Swanville, with Pastor Kevin Zellers, Jr. officiating.
Kenneth Gust Kuhl was born on November 4, 1940 in Little Falls, Minnesota to Gust and Florence (Barthel) Kuhl. He graduated from Swanville High School. On September 24, 1960 Kenneth married Jacquelyn Emmerich. Together they lived on the “Kuhl family farm”, with Ken and his family becoming the third generation on the farm. Ken was employed at the Flensburg Creamery, worked at road construction, and at Crestliner, while still doing his work on the family farm. In 1978, he started J & K Farms with his wife, and they produced eggs for the next 22 years. After his retirement, Ken loved working with his son in the tree business. Ken enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting and fishing trips in the United States and Canada, baking (especially banana bread), playing cards, riding his 4-wheeler and making firewood around his land. He loved spending time with his family and they appreciated his guidance and wisdom. Ken had a strong faith in God and attended church regularly. He was a life time member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Swanville. Ken will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Kenneth, Sr. is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn; sons, David (Christy) Kuhl of Swanville, Ken Kuhl, Jr. of Swanville, and Dale (Abigail) Kuhl of Little Falls; daughters, Lois (Steve) Bateman of Little Falls, Tina Kuhl of Browerville, MN, and Carol (Karl) Venske of Wadena, MN; 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Gust and Florence Kuhl.
