On June 19, 2021 at approximately 12:55 pm, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a report of a one-vehicle crash near Highway 238 and 415th Street in Krain Township. The caller reported that the occupant of the vehicle had injuries to his wrist and back pain.
Upon arrival, responders found the driver, Jerome Klein, 69, of St. Joseph, was responsive. Klein told deputies that he had swerved to miss a deer and hit a field approach. His vehicle became airborne and landed in a nearby field. Klein was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time of the crash. He was transported to the Melrose Hospital for further treatment.
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Freeport Fire and Rescue and Melrose Ambulance.
