Governor Walz announced a new executive order today expanding outdoor recreation activities including golf, boating, fishing, and opening of state trails, and allowing for the opening of bait shops, shooting ranges, marinas and more. I sent a letter to the governor this week requesting that he allow trap ranges to open. Outdoor shooting ranges are among the outdoor recreational facilities listed among the facilities that are allowed to open.
I applaud the governor’s decision to include trap shooting ranges in his order expanding outdoor recreation activities. Sport shooting is incredibly important to our community, and can be done safely. I hope that the governor continues to open up Minnesota businesses that can protect the safety of employees and customers as quickly as possible.

Also today, the governor signed an executive order relaxing some requirements for vehicles and drivers. Executive Order 20-37 extends the provisions outlined in Executive Order 20-06, which exempted COVID-19 response vehicles and drivers from certain regulations, including limits on weight and hours of service. This relief helps ensure the continued free flow of critical relief supplies and other essential goods during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The House met in session today to pass a bill that will help our local restaurants continue serving customers and supporting their employees. SF 4489 will allow restaurants that have a current liquor license and are still serving customers to sell wine, beer, hard seltzer, or cider with take-out orders of food. This bill is a step forward for our restaurants and will help support the jobs they continue to provide in our community.
