Funeral Services were held Monday, August 1, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Long Prairie for LaVonne A. Lackmann, age 80 of Long Prairie, who passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at CentraCare Health Systems – Long Prairie. Rev. Noah Wehrspann officiated and burial followed at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Long Prairie.
LaVonne Ann Scheve was born March 23, 1936 in Long Prairie, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Isabelle (Hockemeyer) Scheve. She grew up and attended school in Long Prairie graduating from high school in 1953. She married Walter Lackmann on September 1, 1956 in Long Prairie. They made their home in Long Prairie. LaVonne worked at what is now called American Heritage Bank for Henry Schroeder, and later for the Superintendent of County Schools, Gladys Mathews. She later worked for the Logan & Scow Attorneys at Law and finally for 34 years at Northern Pines. LaVonne after retirement would still fill in for employees who were gone or on vacation.
LaVonne was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Stitch-n-Prayer Quilting Group. She enjoyed quilting and sewing, bird watching, and fishing. She always thought of others first, putting their needs ahead of her own.
LaVonne is survived by her husband of almost 60 sixty years, Walter, Long Prairie, children, Sheryl (Dan) Karpinski, Sauk Rapids; Jerry, Browerville; and John, Long Prairie; three grandchildren, Micah, Amber, and Josh, and one great-granddaughter, Mckenna.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Eugene Scheve, and sister Lois Anderson.
