Lawrence Drevlow, 90 of Long Prairie died Monday, August 6, 2018, at CentraCare Health in Long Prairie. The funeral for Lawrence will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018 at the American Lutheran Church in Long Prairie. Friends may begin calling one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.
Lawrence was born in Little Sauk Township November 18, 1927 to John and Alvina (Mueller) Drevlow. He lived on the family farm until 1947 when he and his brother, Ernest built the Drevlow Repair Shop. On June 21, 1950 he married Beverly (Peggy) Shinabarger and in December of that year he joined the U.S. Army. Lawrence was honorably discharged in May 1952 and he returned to Long Prairie and ran the shop until 1994 when he and Peggy built and managed the Long Prairie Super 8 Motel. Lawrence retired in 1999 but soon started Larry’s Stained Glass and created many beautiful pieces. Larry enjoyed bowling, stained glass, socializing and traveling.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Peggy, children Lauren (Nancy) Drevlow, Ann (Bradley) Gulstad, Kathi (Terry) Johnson, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and son-in-law Larry Ebert.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Alvina, son Mark, daughter Carol, granddaughter Stephanie O’Roarke, great grandson Carter Gordon Mitchell, siblings Alvin, Richard, Louis, Gertrude, Ewald, Johanna, Wilma and Ernest.
