Funeral Service were held Monday, November 30, 2015 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home-Stein Chapel, Long Prairie for Leo F. Olson, age 72, of Long Prairie who passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Rev. Paul Twist officiated and burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Staples.
Leo Fred Olson was born June 20, 1943 in Bertha, Minnesota, the son of Carl and Edna (Garnet) Olson. He grew up and attended school in Staples. After high school he worked at the Box Factory in Staples. He served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1970 and was stationed in Germany. In 1970 he went to work for Hart’s Press, which later became RR Donnelly retiring after 42 years. He also farmed for several years. He married Margie Jensen on May 29, 1985 in Long Prairie. After retirement, he also worked for Coborn’s in Long Prairie. Leo lived life to the fullest.
Leo attended First Baptist Church. He enjoyed all sports, and was an avid Vikings and Twins Fan. He also liked to fish, hunt, go to auction sales and antique shopping. He loved anything western.
Leo is survived by his wife Margie, Long Prairie; children, Roger (April) Avelsgard, Breckenridge, MN; Melisa (Dennis) Brever, Long Prairie; and Tammy Brusewitz, Staples; eight grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Angie Kangas.
