Leo S. Hartung, 77 year old resident of Upsala, MN passed away Saturday, November 8, 2014 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Upsala, MN with Father John Odero officiated. Burial took place at St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery in Upsala, MN.
Leo was born on June 9, 1937 in Arban, Minnesota to the late Sebastian and Frances (Young) Hartung. He farmed with his parents near Arban until he married Catherine Arceneau on August 17, 1968. Leo worked for Curly Ebnets butcher shop in Holdingford as a meat cutter for 2 years. He then bought a farm near Holdingford and farmed until 1991. Leo later moved to Upsala, where he was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He did janitorial work for the church for about 17 years.
Leo is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Hartung of Upsala, MN; children , Ervin Hartung of Upsala, MN, Mary Pohlmann of Holdingford, MN and Lisa George Upsala, MN; eight grandchildren, Samantha, Tiffany, Brittany, Melissa, Christopher, Gracie, Shawn, and Stefani; brothers, Edward (Adeline) Hartung of Opole, MN, Frank Hartung of Melrose, MN and Victor (Eileen) of St. Cloud, MN; sister, Stella Kasper of St. Michael, MN.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Sebastian and Frances Hartung; granddaughter, Kyrsten Pohlmann; siblings, Anthony Hartung and Eugenia Hartung.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Pohlmann, Christopher George, Joe Osendorf, Donald Hartung, Ronald Kaspers, and Leroy Hartung.
