Leonard Salber, 93, of Browerville, MN, passed away on August 13, 2016. Funeral service for Leonard was held on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at St. James Catholic Church in Randall with Fr. Jimmy Joseph officiating. Interment was held at St. James Catholic Cemetery, Randall.
Leonard was born February 11, 1923, in Petersburg, NE, to George & Anna (Schmitt) Salber. Leonard enlisted in the US Army in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1947. In 1947, he married Delores Wagner at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellsworth. Leonard farmed for 47 years. After his retirement he took up full-time flower gardening. Leonard enjoyed playing cards and searching for and collecting “treasures”. He rode a three wheeler through his woods enjoying all of nature. Leonard kept a daily journey for 40 years. He always had a smile and a joke to tell. Leonard especially enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Leonard was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in Randall, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and served on the Little Elk Township Board.
Leonard is survived by his children: Roger (Wanda) Salber of Browerville, Steven (Cheryl) Salber of Browerville, Glen (Carol) Salber of Little Falls, George Salber of Long Prairie and Mary (Kevin) Evans of Little Falls; 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; siblings: Sister Agnes Salber OSB of Norfolk, NE and Robert (Delores) Salber of Randall and sisters-in-law Francie Salber of Browerville and Dorothy Salber of Marathon City, WI.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents; wife Delores; sons: David & James; brothers: Raymond,
Clarence, Joe, Willie and Jerome; sisters: Celestine Salber, Sister Anella Salber OSB and Lucille Lordeman and sister-in-law Rita Salber.
