Linda A. Berens, age 64 of Greenwald, formerly of Grey Eagle, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 5, 2017. She courageously fought cancer for nearly five years, sharing her strength as well as the love and joy of Christ with all surrounding her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 11 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Greenwald with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Grey Eagle following the lunch.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church in Greenwald. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Linda Alice Berscheit was born in Birchdale Township, Todd County, Minnesota on February 12, 1953 to Ernest and Virginia (Honaker) Berscheit. On November 4, 1972, she was united in marriage to Mark Berens at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Ward Springs. Linda enjoyed singing in the Grey Eagle Community Choir for many years. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, playing softball, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and always helping others.
She was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Greenwald and a former member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Mark Berens of Greenwald; three children, Jason (Debbi) Berens, Jenine (Donovan) Rumreich, and Jeremy Berens; nine grandchildren, Sierra, Jesse, Elizabeth, Sheridan, Luke, Julia, Sydney, Henry, and Samantha; brothers and sisters, Mickey Doucette, Rita (Ken) Ritter, Jerry (Fely) Berscheit, Larry (Kathy) Berscheit, Ari (TJ) Trollen, Paul (Lynne) Berscheit, Lisa (Dave) Rahn, Ronald Berscheit; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Virginia Berscheit; and sister, Emily Arvig.
Her faith in God had been the center point of her life. She brought many people to Christ and deepened the faith of countless others.
